After nearly 30 years in puppet theater, creating award winning works with theaters all over the country and touring the world, I, Fred C. Riley III working under the name Odd Savvy, have been working to create my own puppet theater.
“The Ground” will be a sonic poem exploring our human nature and how we can learn to live in accord with the natural world. I am exploring the edges of a lifetime of technique in tabletop puppetry, mask and shadow theater. I and my team (with help from the DEAR program and the Jim Henson Foundation Workshop Grant) have spent the last 2 years building mock ups, trying out new concepts and finding new poetry in movement theater. This will be the culmination of those efforts and a lifetime given to this art form. Theater is a group effort and that includes you.
